Seasons

THIS MECHANIC IS ARCHIVED AND CURRENTLY NOT IN PRACTICE IN CHICKEN DERBY.

Seasons

Seasons are Chicken Derby's monthly tournaments to determine the strongest chickens in each Pecking Order.

At the start of each Season, every chicken receives 1000 POP (Pecking Order Points). After each paid entry race, chickens gain or lose POP depending on their finishing position.

At the end of each Season, the chickens in the top 20% of each Pecking Order based on POP will win badges and be promoted up to the next Pecking Order for the next season. The chickens in the bottom 20% of each Pecking Order based on POP will be demoted down.

Chickens that run at least 1 race during a season will be eligible for promotion or demotion.

A new season then immediately begins, with every chicken's POP being reset to 100.

POP

The amount of POP each chicken gains/loses after a race is as follows.

Seasons Table

To see how well chickens are doing in each Pecking Order during a season, you can view the Seasons Tables. This displays the ranking of all chickens that have raced so far this season, in each Pecking Order.

Chickens that have a green upwards arrowhead next to them are in the promotion zone, and those with a red downward arrowhead are in the demotion zone. You can also see these arrows when entering your chicken into a race.

Chickens in Pecking Order D cannot be demoted, so the Bottom 20% will not have a red arrow.

Chickens in Pecking Order S cannot be promoted, so the Top 20% will have a yellow star instead.

Season Dates

Each season runs for 1 calendar month, starting on the 1st at 0000 UTC, till the last day of that month at 2359 UTC. The first 5 seasons will only run for 2 weeks each. These dates* are:

Badges

At the end of each season, the top 20% of chickens in each Pecking Order will win badges to signify their prowess. These can be viewed on a chicken's details page.

Badges can also be won by performing well in tournaments and events. Other ways to win badges will be implemented in the future.

Higher Pecking Orders

Being in a higher Pecking Order can yield greater rewards. The higher the Pecking Order, the greater the Prize Pool that is available in free races. Other incentives such as prizes for qualifying at the top of each Pecking Order at the end of a season will be added soon too.

Tie Breakers

Chickens tied in POP are broken by which of the chickens got the higher percentage of 1st places in their races during the season. Then the highest % of 2nd places, 3rd places and so on.
