Fusion
Stolen notes from Dr. Droob's secret castlabortary
What is Fusion?
Fusion is the process of taking 2 chickens and fusing them into 1. By fusing chickens you can combine traits to create new stronger chickens and discover rare and powerful mutations.
How to Fuse
Go to the Fusion page and login. Here you'll see Dr. Droob's Fusion Machine.
To fuse you need 2 chickens and 2 Fusion Serum. Add a chicken to each of the left and right fusion tanks. In the center, you can see the cost of the fusion, and how many Fusion Serums you have.
Now click the fusion button! Your two material chickens will then combine to form a glorious new chicken.
Fused Chicken's Traits
Your Fused Chicken will have traits from the two Material Chickens. Each of the traits from the Material Chickens have an equal chance of being passed on, with a couple of exceptions.
Equal Chance Traits
Each of the following traits have an equal chance of being passed on to your newly fused chicken.
So fusing a Striped Wild Moss Lakenvelder, with an Istanblue Sultan, could give you a Striped Wild Moss Sultan.
Other Traits
Perfection
Your Fused Chicken's perfection will be chosen from between the two perfections of your Material Chickens, with each possible perfection having an equal chance.
Fusing a 90% and a 93%, could yield a 90%, 91%, 92% or 93% chicken, with each having the same 1/4 chance of appearing.
Distance Preference
All Spicy chickens have one of three distance preferences, Short, Medium or Long. Fusion will introduce three new distance preferences, Intermediate, Stretch or Extremes. Your chicken will perform better when running in a race that matches its distance preference.
Distance Preference | Performs Better On |
---|---|
Short | 100m and 120m |
Intermediate | 120m and 140m |
Medium | 140m and 160m |
Stretch | 160m and 180m |
Long | 180m and 200m |
Extremes | 100m and 200m |
Your Fused Chicken's distance preference will be dependent on the distance preferences of the Material Chickens. The possible outcomes are:
If you fuse two chickens with Short and Medium distance preferences, then the Fused Chicken will have either a Short, Intermediate or Medium distance preference.
Consistency
Your Fused Chicken's consistency will be randomly generated when fused, and not inherited from either of the Material Chickens. You can guarantee that consistency is inherited from one of your Material Chickens by locking it.
Stock & Generation
The original 33,333 chickens are all 1st generation chickens with a Spicy stock. When two chickens are fused, the Fused Chicken will have a generation 1 lower than the lowest generation of the two Material Chickens. The generation of the Fused Chicken, determines its stock.
Stock | Generation |
---|---|
Spicy | 1st |
Robust | 2nd, 3rd |
Fresh | 4th, 5th, 6th |
Crispy | 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th |
Tender | 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th |
Bland | 16th+ |
Fusing a 2nd generation chicken and a 5th generation chicken would yield a 6th generation chicken, with a Fresh stock.
Locking Traits
You can guarantee that certain traits are passed on from your Material Chickens to your Fused Chicken, by locking them. To Lock traits, click the lock icon on the Fusion Machine, and select which traits you wish to lock.
The traits are sorted into three groups, and you can only lock 1 trait per group when fusing.

Heritage | Color | Distance Preference |
Perfection | Beak Color | Talent Preference |

Locking traits is incredibly useful at guaranteeing you get certain combinations. Combining Lizard Eyes with Devolution, White Beak with Stripes, or Dig with a chicken that has a Dirt Terrain Preference, can create some strong combinations.
Locking traits requires extra Fusion Serum, and the rarer or stronger the trait, the more Fusion Serum is required. The full list of prices can be found here.
Mutations
Sometimes, you may not get out what you put in. Fusion can be an unstable process, and random mutations can occur, resulting in powerful new traits.
The chance of getting a mutation is about 1/10, and you can get more than one mutation per fusion.

Unforeseen Consequences
With Fusion Serum entering the chicken supply, it has had an unusual effect on the existing chicken population. The following chickens have been observed exhibiting new behavior.
Talents
See Talent Bonuses in Talents.
Legs
See Legs in Understanding Your Chicken.
Advance Fusion
The Heritage of your material chickens will have an effect on some of the hidden traits of your newly fused chicken.
Heritage | Effect |
---|---|
Dorking | Increases the newly fused chicken's Terrain Preference Strength. This will allow them to perform better on their preferred terrain. |
Lakenvelder | Makes the chicken more inconsistent. |
Sultan | Increases the newly fused chicken's Distance Preference Strength. This will allow them to perform better at their preferred distances. |
